Morris Park has something most of the Bronx does not, which is driveways. Between the one- and two-family houses off the avenue and the staff parking around the hospital campuses, there is usually a flat, private place to put a car, and that makes this one of the easiest neighborhoods we serve for mobile installs. If you would rather not lose a morning, we come to the house, do the same job we do in the bay, and leave the car curing where it already sits.

Parkway driving is the main culprit. Pelham Parkway and the Hutch move at real speed with plenty of merging, and speed is what turns a loose stone into a chip. Hospital shift traffic adds a second pattern, with cars in and out of tight staff lots at all hours, where a door or a mirror in a narrow row does more harm to tempered side glass than any road hazard. Then there is the season. Cars parked in driveways under trees pick up sap, grit and the occasional falling branch, and a windshield already carrying a small chip does not tolerate a hard frost afterward. Winter mornings on these blocks mean scraping, and a plastic blade dragged across a chip that already has a crack leg does damage nobody intended.
Pelham Parkway west and then south on the Grand Concourse is the calm route; the Cross Bronx westbound is quicker when it is moving. Either way it is about six miles and around twenty minutes to 30 West Mount Eden Avenue, one block west of the Concourse between it and Jerome Avenue.
